As transactions become larger and as the resources required to deliver a successful result become more interdependent, the requirement for better planning increases
This practical workshop looks at a transaction planning tool which is useful in a broad range of departments, and to a wide range of size and type of transactions.

Project / Matter Planning & Management – Case Study
This regional law firm
Background
Every law firm has come to realise that large matters or transactions benefit from professional project management. At this firm there was awareness that these projects existed and that they needed proper management.
Need
To help build awareness of the importance of both recognising which work needs to treated as a project, and then to give ideas on how to plan and manage these projects.
Activity
We developed a one day session where each participant brought a piece of work into the one day workshop. This was to be reviewed and worked on in the session. It might have been a recently completed, current or future project. Participants came from every department in the firm. The content was adapted to the projects in the room to ensure each participant gained maximum learning from the session and left with clear and precise actions.

- The participants learned a practical tool set for consistent application in the firm.
What the participants said
- “Very interesting how we all found ways to improve our planning and implementation.”
- “Good to discuss our projects with other people in the firm to get a broader perspective”
- “Interesting to hear about other people’s work and their challenges.”
