Training needs to work on implementation not just ideas

Training has to work on implementation not just ideas. Many training courses give you great ideas. New ideas. Tailored ideas. The best make you think about your work in a new way. But what is the value of this training unless the participants implement these ideas in the workplace?

Implementing new ideas often means changing a behaviour. Changing from the existing way of doing things to a new way. And how difficult is it to change a behaviour?

When we make new year’s resolutions we tend to mean them. But how often do we falter? We promise ourselves to learn a new language, or exercise more, or eat less chocolate. But how often do we achieve these changes?

Fundamentally we are talking about changing a behaviour and this can be very hard to do. At ITD we’ve developed a new approach to our training based on behavioural change theories, researched and proven from the health industry where behavioural change can save lives.

We work on the change people want to make and base the whole programme around putting this action into practice. We work on the areas necessary to support behavioural change. What about ideas? We introduce ideas as required to help the participant make the change they want to make.

In this way our training is driven by the outputs, the implementation, not just the ideas. To find out more contact us to see how this new approach could radically impact the impact of your training budget.
