Project sponsors
One of the ideas people tend to like on our project management training, is that of getting a project sponsor. Projects don’t automatically have a sponsor so it is a decision and action which needs to be made. A sponsor is usually a senior person, not necessarily directly involved in the project, who can help you with successful steering through to success. They may be useful in identifying potential road blocks, helping with advice when roadblocks occur, or getting involved in clearing blockages. They may also help if the project needs a senior person to guide thought any political challenges. In the end they may do very little, but having a project sponsor can be a very useful addition to your project planning.
