When we need, or we’re asked to make a presentation, our first thought after ‘oh no’ might be, ‘what am I going to say?’
The content of the presentation is of course important, but where do we start?

A good tip is to consider the audience. Look at who will, or is likley to attend. Think about what their perceptions of the subject are. What do they know, what do they not know? What might they find interesting? What perceptions can be challenged? Why are they attending? What do they want to learn. How might your audience be dissected by different roles, experiences or expectations.

With all this in mind we can start to draft an objective for the presentation and an agenda. Start with the audience and base the presentation on them and it should be a good foundation for success.
