Background

SSE is the last wholly British owned power generation and supply company with annual turnover in excess of £3bn. This business group includes 600 people in eight teams, with each team headed by a leader. The culture of the group is vital to delivering outstanding service to customers throughout theuk.

 

Objective

To change the approach of people in the group to give even more focus on to their customers and exceed their expectations; to do this by helping the leaders to change their approach from managing their teams to leading them and in doping so leading the culture to that which the business requires.

Solution

We designed a series of one day leadership workshops which in a consultative style challenged the existing approach. This was specifically to help the leaders to review their approach and see it as managing. Then we looked at what the impact could be if they were to lead their teams.

The workshops were totally focussed on SSE’s business and case studies. We used the challenges of the participants to illustrate points being made. In this way the leaders were looking at real work not theoretical training.

The solution also included follow up and reviews.
