Virtual Presentation Skills Training

Haman is a travel company with the following perception:

The Nordic countries are famous for their nature – snowy mountain regions, remote fjords, wide sandy beaches, deep forests and small picturesque towns. The perfect place to travel away from crowds and out in the fresh air!”

The team is a highly experienced and enthusiastic group of specialists. Their local knowledge and undertsanding of what Scandinavia has to offer, helps them to design bespoke travel ideas for their clients worldwide.

Background

Like many in the travel world Haman’s business has been dramatically affected by the pandemic. But the world and the travel sector will recover and when it does travellers will need places to go that are safe, clean and fufil their needs. To communicate clearly what Scandinavia has to offer, virtual presentation skills are essential.

Need

The need to was to provide ideas and guidance on how to engage a virtual audience when presenting a travel destination. Their clients are in many countries including France, Italy and Australia. Previously these presentations and discussions had taken place in the same room. The skill of making a connection in the virtual space is essential for business success.

Activity

We designed a two part traning session tailored to Hamamn’s needs. Part 1 focussed on training input with ideas on subject areas including:

  • Challenges in presenting virtually and hwo to overcome these.
  • Tailoring content to the client.
  • Developing content that will wow the client.
  • How to tell stories to engage the client.
  • Using the voice to its maximum.
  • Focussing on the needs and wants of the client.
  • Planning & Preparation.
  • Using video professionally, including; light, background, position & styling.
  • Adapting to the personality of the client.

The Part 2 involved participants practising their skills and receiving developmental feedback.

Outcomes

Each participant had the opportunity to review their skills, discuss ideas and practise their approach. Specific feedback for each person developed their confidence in areas they performed well in, and gave them ideas on how to improve. Each person watched the presentations of the others to gain ideas and offer support.
