Sales Management Training

SSE plc is a multinational energy company headquartered in Perth, Scotland. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange, and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. 

SSE Energy Services (the part of SSE that supplied energy to households across Great Britain) became part of the OVO family in January 2020. The OVO family includes energy supplier Boost, and flagship brand OVO Energy, as well as home services brand CORGI HomePlan. OVO Energy is the UK’s leading independent energy supplier, with a mission to bring clean, affordable energy to all.

Together they supply energy to almost 5 million households across the UK, as well as offering other home services including heating and boiler cover and phone and broadband.

Background

The sales team included a groups of sales managers each with around 12 sales people to manage.

Need

The specfic need was to help the sales amangers with ideas on how to better manage their teams. They wanted ideas on how to refresh their approach in order to achieve higher sales volumes with the teams.

Activity

We developed a one day workshop covering a variety of different aspect of sales management:

  • Managing direction of sales.
  • Pipeline management.
  • Creating a sales culture.
  • Management by targets.
  • Motivation.
  • Challenging situations.
  • Leadership presentations.
  • Personal Actions.

Outcomes

Each one of the sales managers gained insight into their management style, with our Work Styles Model. There was lots of discussion of the challenges they faced and how to overcome these. We also developed action plans for each manager.
