Carr-Lyons Search & Selection was established in 1994 having identified a gap in the market for a specialist recruitment firm to provide both Search and Selection services to Financial Institutions in the City. Whilst the teams and coverage areas have grown since then, their passion and ideals and have always remained the same – to provide specialist knowledge, professionalism and integrity to their candidates and clients.
The team was created to provide expert recruitment knowledge to the Credit and Risk markets and soon expanded to cover Leveraged & Structured Finance, Trade Finance, Project Finance and Corporate Banking. As part of their ongoing programme of growth, they further expanded our coverage to the Compliance market, a natural and successful complement to the existing business.
Background
We had worked with the business on the consultant side, developing skills in advanced sales techniques.
Need
The need was to provide ideas in managing people to encourage improved performance.
Activity
The style of training was a blend of idea sharing and coaching. The former was to provide new ways of thinking and the latter to explore how these ideas could be applied.
The focus on people management reflected the team dynamic, where the directors managed a group of highly skilled and experienced individuals.
We covered how to understand and interpret each personality in the team.
The agenda included developing people with development plans, individual assessment, coaching conversations and action plan agreements. We looked at how to encourage stretch targets and an openness to personal development.
Outcomes
The Directors applied the ideas to the business and their team.
