Need

The need for training came from a very positive perspective of developing on success. The business has grown significantly over the past few years. The culture of the organisation is very positive and performing well, so this was about getting the best out of people and providing that confidence to managers.

Managing people can be one of the most rewarding roles as well as the most challenging and training is required to keep the managers at the top of their game.

Subject matters covered included a range of people management disciplines as well as DE&I (Diversity, Equality and Inclusion).

Activity

The content of our training was tailored to ATP Media. We used examples and scenarios that were relevant to the participants. The training was run as a workshop with participants active and engaged at all times. The workbook, created as a PowerPoint pdf, was tailored to ATP Media and sent to participants after the training.

The agenda included the following subjects:

  • Challenges with managing people.
  • Managing performance.
  • Management styles.
  • Contracting.
  • Coaching skills.
  • Development plans.
  • Giving feedback.
  • Difficult conversations.
  • Delegation skills.
  • Motivation.
  • Unconscious bias.
  • Summary & personal actions.

Outcomes

The workshops all involved participants in discussion on each aspect of the agenda. The ideas introduced were discussed and applied to specific situations and scenarios.

Each participant suggested specific actions to implement in their role immediately.
